Summer Programs 2009
College Now @ Brooklyn College
Bushwick Urban Investigation
If you could change your community, what would you do? How would you know where to begin? This hands-on service learning-based program will give you the tools to identify issues affecting your community and help you understand different pathways to change.
The investigation focuses on issues related to gentrification in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. You and your classmates will learn about the community first hand, research the issue, and find out about the different structures that can influence change in an urban neighborhood. Your interviews with local residents and leaders and research about the community will culminate in a final, creative project.
