College Now @ College of Staten Island
Discovery Summer College Program
Get a taste of college life and the credits that go with it this summer at The College of Staten Island.
You will spend the morning in a college credit course of your choice, and then apply that knowledge during a fun, hands-on lab in the afternoon.
Students entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2008 can enroll in one of the following college-credit courses:
Chemistry 106: Chemistry for Today (3 credits)
Prerequisite: A grade of 75 or higher on the Chemistry Regents Exam.
Mathematics 113: Probability and Statistics (4 credits)
Prerequisite: Minimum 80 GPA, AND minimum 80 Math A/Integrated Math Regents or 480 SAT/PSAT Math
Mathematics 130: Precalculus (4 credits)
Prerequisite: A grade of 75 or higher on the Math B regents. Students who will be taking the Math B regents in June may register contingent on scoring a 75 or higher on that regents.
Political Science 103: Understanding the Political World (3 credits)
Prerequisite: A grade of 75 or higher on the ELA Regents or 480 on the SAT/PSAT Verbal
Psychology 100: Introduction to Psychology (2 sections) (3 credits)
Prerequisite: A grade of 75 or higher on the ELA Regents or 480 on the SAT/PSAT Verbal
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a New York City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2009
- Have passing grades of at least 75 on both the English and Math Regents
Students coming from College of Staten Island partner schools will be given priority, but eligible students from other public schools may attend if space permits.
