"Jenny passionately campaigns to support the 65,000 undocumented students enrolled in United States public schools so that they may receive federal and state aid for higher education. She has involved herself heavily in gaining public and political support for the DREAM (Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act. Instead of being discouraged by the obstacles that stand in the way of receiving a higher education, she has become a strong self-advocate. She continues to work hard inside the classroom while working to supplement her family?s income and actively supporting a cause of great consequence to her future."

Excerpts from Jenny's Essay
During my junior year I decided to be part of "A Post 9/11 Retrospect Project." Throughout this project I had the opportunity to express myself. As a representative I was able to voice the thoughts and opinions of my community as well as listen to those of others. I came to deeply believe that every human being—regardless of their appearance, age, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation—should be free to express their thoughts and opinions. This is what makes America great! The fact that even when the government might disagree, you are still allowed to voice your beliefs.
Another great experience that impacted my life was volunteering as a soccer coach at the Central Queens YMHA. I loved helping kids improve their skills at this sport. I felt happy knowing that my help meant a lot to my community. We protect the future of society by safeguarding our children. I prefer to help kids do what they love instead of seeing them destroy their lives in the streets. Young children easily become involved with drugs and with gangs. … I know that if they do what they love they will stay out of trouble.
Living in a free and democratic society has helped me to succeed and to understand how helpful I can be to others. … This country has given me the opportunity to meet my goals such as receiving a better education and improving my economic situation. I have been inspired to help others accomplish their goals and I will always do my best to help out my community.
