"Ms. Nguyen knows how to successfully balance her academics with extracurricular activities. She knows her limitations, and when she sees herself heading in this direction, she knows to restrict her extracurricular activities. The hardest restriction that she often finds, which puts a strain on her time, is helping other students with math. … I know that she loves helping other students realize that they do not need to fear math; her tutoring style and demeanor empowers others to do so."

Excerpts from Duc-Nguyen's Essay
I participated in Junior Achievement programs, in which I was given the opportunity to teach a group of second graders for a day. My mission was to educate and show how they could impact the world around them and inspire them to make a difference in their community. I want to be assured that every child gets a good education and has fun in the process. I took control and was able to handle the situation. I was prepared, organized and had no difficulty carrying out the day's lesson and covering all the work on the agenda. I used my prior knowledge, and to the best of my ability, taught them what I've learned in school. This was a nonprofit organization but I received the best reward there is, experience and compliments from the children as well as their teachers. I know I made a difference in their lives and in my community.
