Excerpts from Harpreet's Essay
Edward Gibbon, an English historian, once said, "I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience." I certainly agree with him because through experience one can become stronger, smarter and wiser, to discover and learn new things about life and themselves. An important experience that I had was when I first became a member of the Leadership class in my school. This class taught me a lot about life, who we are as human beings and our role in this world. I learned how to give back to our community and school, instead of just taking from it.
Leadership made me more responsible, diligent, and persistent and gave me a lot of motivation. I learned the importance of giving back to the community…Helping others leaves me with a sense of accomplishment and pride. It makes me feel good that I can make a difference.
