"If teachers had 34 Malvi Thakkers, they would not retire. Malvi is bright, focused, responsive and caring. Malvi is "the spark of the lesson," the leader in her group and the one whom her classmates turn to for help. When she does not understand; she asks. When she wants to know more; she researches. When she knows; she tutors. As an active member of our school and community, Malvi is a member of our Science Olympiad team, Key Club, Botany Club and ARISTA, the national honor society."

Excerpts from Malvi's Essay
The togetherness and bravery shown during the September 11 th tragedy motivated me to become involved in helping my school and community. During my three years as a member of Key Club we participated in the Breast Cancer Walk, Diabetes Walk and the
AIDS Walk and collected funds and donations for the charity organizations …. During the summer of 2005 and 2006 I had the privilege to volunteer at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. This experience taught me to be responsible and feel the joy of helping others. Working with this organization inspired me to pursue my future career as a physician. As a whole I feel every individual could contribute to the society in his or her own way and that is how we can build a better nation and create a stable and secure environment for our future generations.
