College Now @
LaGuardia Community College
LaGuardia's College Now program seeks to prepare high school students for successful academic performance in college and to facilitate their transition from high school to college.
Most classes take place at our partner high schools. However, we offer many activities and college-credit courses on campus throughout the year. A selected number of students also join us each year through our College Connection program which allows high school juniors and seniors to take "classes with other college students."
Options for Nearly Everyone
Whether you're a 10th grader, an English Language Learner, or a qualified junior or senior, you can find what you need to succeed at LaGuardia College Now.
- 10th grade electives. Several of LaGuardia's partner high schools offer a 10th grade course for high school elective credit. These courses usually revolve around specific themes and allow you to explore topics in depth. Depending on your school, you can study anything from engineering to the connections between psychology and literature.
- ESL programs. Queens is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse places in the world. Like our college, our partner high schools have students from many different countries, some of whom are learning English as a second (or third, or fourth) language. Our program has many options for you if you are an ESL student. We offer a year-long program that will prepare you for college-level work and 10th grade electives targeted to your needs
- College-credit courses. We offer college-credit courses in many different subjects including psychology, sociology, math, English, art, communication, business, and law. In addition to helping you earn credit for college, our courses sharpen your thinking and writing skills—preparing you for the future.
- Summer program. Summer is a great time to explore your interests or discover new ones though College Now at LaGuardia. Read about past summer programs and find out what is coming up on LaGuardia’s website.
Getting Started
- Consult the list of LaGuardia's partner schools. If your high school is on the list, make a note of its LaGuardia College Now liaison. The liaison is the person you'll need to contact to see exactly what courses and activities are open to you, deadlines for enrollment, etc.
- If your high school is not officially partnered with LaGuardia, you can contact CN staff who work at the college to inquire about your options. Campus contact information follows directly below.
