College Now @

York College

Want to help your family out with school finances? Looking to get ahead of the freshman crowd?

Then sign up for College Now courses at York College! You can take courses at your high school or, to get that campus feeling, right at York College itself, in the heart of Jamaica, Queens.

College Now at York was established in 2000. Six years later, York College Now serves ten high schools in the southeast Queens area.

The program provides high school and college-credit classes to students while they are still in high school. College Now at York offers a wide range of courses, from biology to calculus, jazz music theory, and political science, among others.

A College Now student at York can:

  • take part in campus tours
  • work in laboratories
  • fly planes
  • play gigs across the five boroughs, as a member of the all high school Blue Notes Jazz Band

Most courses are offered immediately following the normal high school day. A few courses are offered on Saturdays or before the school day begins.

If you're qualified and start early enough, you have the potential to earn nearly a semester's worth of college-credit without ever dipping into your piggy bank. The program covers the cost of books and tuition.

Getting Started

  1. Consult the list of York's partner schools. If your high school is on the list, make a note of its York College Now liaison. The liaison is the person you'll need to contact to see exactly what courses and activities are open to you, deadlines for enrollment, etc.
  2. If your high school is not officially partnered with York, you can contact CN staff who work at the college to inquire about your options. Campus contact information follows directly below.
