Criminal Justice Summer Institute (CJSI) and Law and Justice Summer Institute (LJSI)

The John Jay College Now summer program offers two different options for students interested in a career in the legal field: The Law and Justice Summer Institute combines aspects of an undergraduate literature course and law school Law and Literature; The Origins of State Power (3 cr) . Students will examine inherent tensions between individual liberties and state power. In the afternoon, students will conduct a Moot Court in collaboration with teachers from the Justice Resource Center (JRC).  
July 11 – August 11, 2016
Monday through Thursday
9:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Three college credits upon successful completion.

Metrocards and lunch vouchers provided.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a New York City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2016
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 85 in English for students entering 11th grade, or 75+ on the ELA Regents for students entering 12th grade
  • Students not meeting academic requirements but who express strong interest in the program will be granted an opportunity to interview for program openings
  • Students coming from John Jay College partner schools will be given priority, but eligible students from other public schools may attend if space permits.
