Summer Art Program

Students will explore the ways in which humans perceive and react to certain colors and color mixtures and investigate the image-making and text-handling capabilities of generic software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Painter. Final projects will incorporate all course material and provide a basic experience of the computer as a comprehensive design instrument. Also, the students will generate artwork that can be used to promote and document the performances of the program’s jazz musicians, which will be recorded by the music production students Courses include Fine Arts 104: Introduction to Fine Arts, FA 284: Computer Graphics.

Up to 6 college credits upon successful completion.

Metrocards and lunch vouchers provided.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a New York City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2016.
  • Have a minimum score of 75 on the English Regents (ELA) exam OR 480 on the SAT verbal/critical reading section.
  • Demonstrate talent in drawing or painting.
  • Students coming from York College's partner schools will be given priority, but eligible students from other public schools may attend if space permits.
