Summer Environmental Science Program

Do you ever think about how climate change, industrial waste and even wildlife may impact the health of people living in New York City? If so, come to Medgar Evers this summer and study environmental health issues in your community. At the Medgar Evers College Now Environmental Science Program you will take a choice of college credit Basic Chemistry or Environmental Health Issues in the morning and in the afternoon you will participate in data analysis/problem solving workshops, go on field trips, conduct supervised laboratory and field research and hear presentations from science professional and faculty.
July 10 – August 10, 2017
Monday through Thursday
9:00 AM to 3:15 PM
Three college credits upon successful completion.

Metrocards and lunch vouchers provided

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a New York City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2017
  • Have a minimum overall high school GPA of 75
  • Have a score of 80+ on Algebra I Regents OR 70+ on Common Core Algebra I or Geometry Regents
  • Have AT LEAST ONE of the following:
    • a minimum score of 75 on the English Regents Exam (ELA) OR
    • a minimum score of 480 on the SAT Evidenced Based Reading & Writing section
  • Students coming from Medgar Evers College partner schools will be given priority, but eligible students from other public schools may attend if space permits.
