Join us this summer and you can qualify for College before you graduate high school!
Did you know that you need a score of 75+ on the ELA Regents exam to take most college-credit humanities courses and an 80+ on the Algebra Regents to take a college credit math course? AND that you need both to qualify for a four-year CUNY college? If you have not achieved either of these scores, you should take advantage of the College Focus Summer Program @ Medgar Evers College. Passing the tests you’ll prepare for in this free summer program will exempt you from remedial courses* at CUNY and qualify you for college credit courses in your senior year of high school. You’ll take either a math or an ELA course; have access to tutoring, recreation and a college success workshop. Participants will receive a Student Metrocard, snacks and lunch, and an Application Scholarship for CUNY’s online application valued at $65! To apply, print and complete an application. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until classes are full.
*Remedial courses are community college classes in math or reading and writing that are required of any student who is not well enough prepared for college as determined by his or her Regents scores. Remedial courses carry no credits but they cost tuition dollars and use up financial aid. Remediation must be completed before moving on to accumulate credits for a degree.
